EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Under the general supervision of the Complex Area Superintendent of the Honokaa-Kohala-Kealakehe-Konawaena Complex Area, the District Educational Specialist II: Plans, coordinates and conducts professional development and leadership relating to school improvement and effectiveness activities. Assists schools with decision making related to barriers to school improvement, including drafting correspondence and providing technical assistance with decision making resolutions.Provides leadership, planning and coordination of support services to HKKK CA school administrators, such as technical assistance; serving as an advisor/consultant, facilitator, mediator, and supporter of CAS and school administrators; and fielding inquiries from the public and/or district personnel to help resolve them at lowest level possible.Assists school administrators in developing, maintaining, creating and operationalizing school visions; supports them with assessment and evaluation activities that are relevant, applicable and research based; assists with accreditation, school improvement, restructuring and renewal requirements, and other federal and state mandates. Conducts investigations as needed as assigned by CAS.Facilitates short- and long-term strategic planning with school administrators within the HKKK CA; coordinates and implements complex-wide plans. Serves as liaison to state office resources; identifies and coordinates use of resources with and among schools, HKKK CA and the state.Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
SALARY RANGE: EOSR-7, $110,136 to $155,904. Department of Education certificated employees will be placed on the salary range in accordance with Department regulations.All others will be placed on the first step of $110,136.WORK YEAR AND BENEFITS: This appointment will be on a 12-month basis with vacation and sick leave provided according to applicable regulations.
