What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Assignment Reporter position at Hawaii Tribune-Herald?
Hawaii Tribune-Herald has an immediate opening for a General Assignment Reporter to help cover a wide array of issues affecting the Big Island. The ideal candidate will be an all-around journalist able to produce a strong balance of straightforward news reporting along with features and enterprise stories. The applicant should be willing to take photographs and/or shoot video for both our digital and print platforms.
This position will pitch and write stories approved by editors and establish sources to form their own story ideas. Applicants with page design or graphic design experience are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must:
- Hold a journalism degree, or similar, from a four-year college
- Have strong decision-making, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be motivated and willing to not only learn, but embrace island culture
- Have a valid driver’s license and a reliable source of transportation that is insured.
