Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, Inc., one of the oldest and largest full-service general contractor is seeking temporary, part-time Engineering Interns for the summer, fall, or year-long positions in 2025.
General Purpose of Job :
Engineering Interns with Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, Inc. provides hands-on learning experiences directly related to skills needed in a full-time Construction Engineer career. Interns will have the opportunity to develop and learn key roles and functions in construction engineering. Some responsibilities may include, but are not limited to; reviewing shop drawings, submittals, schedules, take offs, pay requests, contract changes and project documentation.
Functional Responsibilities for Engineer Interns :
- Support both administrative and construction activities as assigned by supervisor; review proposals, specifications and drawings, perform material takeoffs, prepare cost estimates.
- Learn to work with subcontractors and communicate with vendors.
- Learn to track cost and materials, schedule equipment and follow safety program.
- Maintain records as required for job progress, costs, material usage etc..
- Learn and assist with planning and scheduling of job and / or job segments.
- Identify problems and recommend solutions / alternatives as appropriate.
- Review plans and specifications to determine material requirements, pricing etc..
