PRIMARY PURPOSE : Coordinate the Hawaiian Humane Society's efforts to humanely reduce the Free-Roaming cat (FRC) population; advocating for humane strategies and educating the community on FRC issues and approaches. Serve as an advocate for community volunteers who practice responsible Trap, Neuter, Return, Manage (TNRM) on the island of Oʻahu. Work with FRC caregivers and pet owners to increase the spay / neuter of all cats. Advocate for keeping pet cats safe indoors. Support organization efforts to advance public policies on humane cat management and support for spay / neuter.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / FUNCTIONS :

- Liaison with the community and other agencies. Serve as liaison between the community, government agencies, property owners / managers, cat caregivers and Hawaiian Humane to support, promote and facilitate humane FRC management, education, outreach and spay / neuter programs.
- Departmental Support. Work effectively to provide an efficient, quality service to the public. Treat all animals humanely, properly and with compassion according to established Hawaiian Humane procedures. Promote a humane and caring attitude toward all animals through public education and leading by example. Maintain a pleasant, courteous, and professional attitude always.
- Complaint Mitigation. Effectively communicate the community cat program, philosophy and goals to stakeholders and critics to engage the community to support such efforts.
- FRC Program Development and Support. Develop a targeted approach to TNRM by collaborating with community partners and volunteers to maximize the use of Hawaiian Humane's resources. Collaborate with stakeholders, including Veterinary Services, private veterinarians, Field Services and Community Engagement to identify surgery capacity, address priority areas and build awareness of the program.

This includes the following functions :
Respond to community cat issues, advocate for TNRM with property owners / managers and speak at Neighborhood Board Meetings and other public forums about FRC Initiatives.Coordinate with the Ginny Tiu Community Spay / Neuter Centers and private veterinarians to facilitate spay / neuter surgeries for FRC caregivers.Work with the community to identify priority areas of focus, including areas for mass TNRM, and coordinate with all stakeholders.Maintain accurate records and prepare statistical reports that identify key metrics for measurement.Plan and maintain community education efforts that may include public seminars and training for caretakers and volunteers, both onsite and in the field.Establish and maintain a working relationship with community groups and other animal welfare organizations to promote Hawaiian Humane programs and services.Oversee volunteers to assist in all aspects of the program including FRC caretakers, administrative support and field support.Provide administrative support for the program including answering phone calls and emails, maintaining data entry, and conducting volunteer training.OTHER DUTIES / FUNCTIONS :
Spokesperson Support . Speak to groups that include public, staff, media and other law enforcement agencies concerning FRC services at Hawaiian Humane . Establish relationships with and serve as a professional liaison to the community.Operational Support. Participate in meetings with other staff members and share ideas and suggestions designed to improve working conditions and the organization.Other Duties as Assigned : Perform other duties as assigned to ensure a positive public image and to enhance the operation of the organization and improve the quality of life for animals. May include organization-wide support as needed such as, but not limited to, participation in events, fundraising, and Hawaiian Humane's role as a first responder to disasters.JOB CONDITIONS :
Work Environment : Outdoors and indoors as needed.Equipment Use : Transport Van, Humane Cat Traps, PC proficiency, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), shelter management software.Hours : Based on operational requirements. Must be available full-time and available to work over 40 hours, as needed, any 7 days of the week, weekends and holidays.MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND COMMUNICATION DEMANDS :

Skills / Knowledge : Ability to speak clearly in front of audience. Ability to write clearly. Ability to plan, organize, train and supervise volunteers. Valid driver's license, good driving record, access to own automobile and proof of no-fault insurance required.
