Job Description:
The School Food Services Manager I and II position at Hawaii State Department of Education requires overseeing the efficient service, equipment, facilities, and operations of school food services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine and develop plans for service efficiency in consultation with the principal and School Food Service Branch.
- Manage daily food service operations, reviewing and revising internal procedures as needed.
- Establish high standards of quality control for food production and distribution, ensuring compliance with USDA meal pattern requirements.
- Schedule and supervise employees, including student workers, and provide training on proper work practices, methods, and equipment operations.
- Estimate and order food and supplies, maintaining perpetual inventory and daily financial reports.
- Monitor expenditures, maintain assigned budget, and review invoices for payment.
Requirements:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Progressively responsible experience in food preparation, menu planning, fiscal recordkeeping, purchasing, and storage of food and supplies.
- Possession of a valid food handlers training level certification from the Hawaii Department of Health or equivalent organization.
