WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Work directly with customer teams to provide advanced engineering services, both in test and real-world environments.
- Perform highly complex technical tasks and solve challenging technical problems related to the customer’s enterprise Cisco infrastructure and its interconnections with other vendor systems.
- Manage, maintain, and secure the customer’s Cisco inventory within the enterprise.
- Participate in discussions with customer stakeholders on overall software strategy, including the development of operating procedures and support documentation.
- Engineer, design, implement, and troubleshoot the VA’s Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) with a focus on security across VA-owned and leased spaces.
- Projects include security enhancements, IPv6 transition, automation, and planning/design of new equipment.
- Lead implementations with multiple customer teams to accomplish mission goals.
- Assist with both high-level and low-level design documentation.
- Work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
REQUIRED SKILLS (Security RADIUS Engineer):
- Expertise in Cisco security, specializing in Palo Alto Networks and Cisco Secure Firewall platforms.
- Expertise in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting enterprise-level RADIUS operations.
- Proficiency in automating deployments, vulnerability remediations, updates, and RADIUS system configurations.
- Experience overseeing a team running a trouble ticket system.
- Proven success in using modern DevOps methods, automated testing tools, and monitoring tools.
- Expertise in 802.1X based on X.509 certificates, Medium Access Control (MAC) Authentication Bypass (MAB), and device profiling.
- Minimum Education: Current CCIE Security Certification.
- Experience: 15 years as a network security engineer spanning multiple locations.
- Preferred Locations: Chicago, IL; Sterling, VA; Dallas, TX; San Diego, CA.
- Security Clearance: Public Trust.
