Grounds Maintenance Technician
(Seasonal position from May through October)

THE POSITION:
The Grounds Maintenance Technician reports to the Director of Facilities & Transportation and is responsible for performing grounds and maintenance duties which relate to the school facilities and grounds. Accept the responsibility for the care, condition, appearance, repair or replacement of physical equipment, buildings, facilities, and grounds as assigned. The Grounds Maintenance Technician assumes responsibility for all equipment, systems, materials, supplies and tools utilized in the performance of duties and ensures safe practices at all times for self, co-workers, students, visitors and staff. This position is designated as “Essential Personnel” and requires the incumbent to interact with the School during emergency situations and be available to work scheduled weekends. The work schedule is primarily first shift and involves overtime assignments.
THE ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide care for all school grounds including mowing, trimming, weeding, pesticide applications, and tree and shrub maintenance.
- Perform general athletic field care, to include but not limited to, field lining, setup, irrigation operation and maintenance.
- Avoids disrupting building activities during class hours, except during emergencies.
- Follows and assists in the promotion of approved safety procedures. Participates in safety training as directed. Complies with safety regulations and environmental laws.
- Performs groundskeeping and maintenance duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Inspects safety equipment (e.g. emergency lights, alarm systems, ground fault protectors, etc.) as directed.
- Acts responsibly to protect school equipment and property. Takes appropriate action during adverse weather conditions.
- Understands and uses crisis plan protocol to respond to emergencies.
- Respects personal privacy.
- Wears appropriate work attire and maintains a neat appearance.
- Maintains all equipment operating logs and work order documentation. Has a working knowledge of basic computer skills and computerized work order systems.
- Conduct other duties related to the Grounds Technician position as assigned by Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (must be able to pass our School insurance provider’s driver’s license check.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs, bend, crouch, reach, climb and work in high and/or confined spaces.
