Controller

Description

To be a self-directed and experienced controller that will handle high-level accounting, managerial accounting, and oversee financial activities of the company. The controller will manage and supervise all aspects of accounting from payroll to tax compliance. Will report to Chief Financial Officer and will assist with development of internal control policies and procedures. 

Requirements

Major Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of accounting; billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax compliance, inventory accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses
• Maintain documented system of accounting policies and operations
• Oversee payments of all accounts; ensuring all accounts are paid on time
• Process accounts and collecting payments
• Oversee all payments made for debts, bank loans, and other large quantities of money
• Monitor and report on cash and funding balances
• Complete lead sheets for all balance sheet accounts
• Keep an organized filing system of all accounts, statements, transactions, payments, and debts
• Prepare and organize financial statements for record and review
• Prepare quarterly/annual financial reports
• Organize information and statements for audits and both internal and external auditors
• Complying with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting
• Ensuring company complies with all additional legal and regulatory requirements
• Lead all year end audit activities with third party auditors
• Additional controller duties as needed

 Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with an emphasis in Accounting

· Ideal candidate has 5 to 10 years of experience in restaurant accounting

· Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license preferred

· Previous experience as an accountant, accounting supervisor, or manager

· Proficiency with accounting software, Restaurant 365 preferred

· Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations

· Experienced in restaurant inventory management procedures

· Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations

· Attention to detail

· Able to work well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead other team members

Physical Demands:

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

· Must be able to work in a climate controlled, office environment

· Ability to read and write in English in order to process paperwork and follow up on any actions necessary

· Must be able to frequently stand, walk, give & receive oral communication, bend, squat and reach above shoulder level

· Must be able to sit for long periods of time, type and organize

· Manual dexterity needed for keyboarding and other repetitive tasks

· Must be able to lift/carry up to 20 lbs
