Director of Recreation and Wellness

Position Overview:

Hawks Cay Resort, a premier luxury destination on the stunning Duck Key in the Florida Keys, is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Director of Recreation and Wellness to lead and elevate our recreational programs, activities and lead the spa operations for our guests. This leadership position will oversee the development, implementation, and management of all recreational services, activities, and spa operations ensuring an exceptional experience for resort guests of all ages. The Director of Recreation and Wellness will also play a key role in promoting a positive, team-oriented environment while maintaining the resort’s high standards of hospitality and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, develop, and manage all aspects of the resort’s recreation program.
• Design and implement a diverse range of recreational offerings tailored to our guests, ensuring activities meet or exceed expectations for quality and guest satisfaction.
• Hire, train, and supervise a team of recreation staff, fostering a positive, guest-focused culture, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Collaborate with other departments such as guest services, marketing, and food & beverage to create coordinated and seamless experiences for guests.
• Oversee scheduling, budgeting, and inventory management for all recreation-related activities, ensuring resources are utilized effectively and within budget.
• Manage the resort’s amenities, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standards.
• Develop promotional strategies for recreational offerings to increase guest participation and enhance revenue opportunities.
• Address guest concerns, feedback, and requests regarding recreational activities, ensuring all guests feel heard and their needs are met.
• Lead the spa team to deliver exceptional wellness and relaxation experiences.
• Oversee spa operations, including treatment offerings, scheduling, and guest satisfaction.
• Collaborate with therapists, aestheticians, and wellness experts to enhance spa services.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations.
• Develop and implement business strategies to increase revenue and profitability for both departments.
• Monitor financial performance, budgets, and operational efficiency.
• Hire, train, and mentor a team of spa and recreation professionals.
• Foster a culture of wellness, teamwork, and outstanding guest service.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Hospitality, Wellness or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in recreation management, and spa management with at least 1 years in a leadership or director role, preferably in a luxury hotel or resort setting.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to develop and implement successful recreational programs that engage and excite guests.
• Exceptional customer service orientation with the ability to manage diverse guest expectations.
• Knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements related to recreation activities.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Previous experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial oversight is preferred.
• CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications are a plus.
