What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heritage Farmstead Student Worker position at Hawthorn Hollow?
Job Overview
Do you enjoy working outdoors? Interested in learning about organic gardening and growing vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers? Hawthorn Hollow has job openings for three high school student workers for the summer. These positions will offer students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in the horticulture field while growing produce for school aged children to taste and try.
Responsibilities
- Assist with planting, weeding, mulching, and general garden upkeep duties
- Participate in learning about organic gardening methods including pest management, irrigation and crop rotation
- Assist with harvesting produce and timing of planting to ensure a continual supply of edible variety of vegetables
Requirements
- You must enjoy working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- You must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and be able to physically walk, bend, kneel, and use garden tools (you will be trained on the use of all tools)
- You must be available from June 17th through August 28th. Tuesdays from 9am to Noon, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 2:30pm.
- You must have reliable transportation
