Maintenance Assistant Job Summary:
The primary purpose of the Maintenance Assistant is to assist the Maintenance Department in the day-to-day activities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guideline and regulations governing the facility, and as directed by the Maintenance Director.

Maintenance Assistant Major Responsibilities and Critical Tasks:
1. Assist in inspections and repairs HVAC equipment cooling units, heading units, hot water systems, ventilation equipment and other standard equipment.
2. Assist in repairs and installs drywall including mudding, taping, and sanding.
3. Painting walls and ceilings as needed
4. Performs minor plumbing repairs, including unplugging, repairing, and replacing toilets, lavatories, sinks and replacing faulty gate and ball vales.
5. Shovels snow and scatter ice melts to insure safe passage for residents, public and other employees.
6. Performs minor electrical repairs including replacing faulty outlets, switches, and other electrical apparatus.
7. Assists and follows maintenance standards.
8. Performs general rough and finish carpentry as well as rough and finish concrete work.
9. Performs general landscaping, yard work including mowing, cleanup, and other types of general yard work.
10. Coordinates daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing maintenance assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.
11. Perform administrative requirements (i.e., completing necessary forms, reports. Etc.) and submits to the facility Administrator, as necessary.
12. Ensures an adequate supply of maintenance supplies is available to perform tasks.
13. Ensures equipment is clean and safely stored at the end of the shift.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
