The Registered Nurse (RN) at Hawthorne Foundation Inc. is responsible for providing high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, knowledge of OPWDD regulations, and experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure retention, review, and maintenance of each individual's health records and immunization records.
- Evaluate physical examinations by physicians to ensure compliance with OPWDD regulations.
- Aquire all required medical and health-related documentation.
- Physically assess individuals to recognize normal and abnormal variations.
- Participate in team conferences and individual program planning for each individual.
- Document changes in medical status to ensure completeness and comprehensiveness.
- Provide first aid as needed.
- Counsel and teach individuals, their families, and educational staff on topics such as personal hygiene, family life, dental care, sex education, and safety education.
- Teach and train staff to ensure they are adequately informed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).
- Current RN licensure in the state of New York.
- Knowledge and experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Sensitivity to the needs of individuals, their families, and personnel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
