POSITION SUMMARY: The HPC General Service Manager (GSM) shall be responsible for the overall service operations management of Hawaii Service teams. The GSM shall manage each of their direct reports, and work with internal partners and corporate Cat on establishing standard of excellence in operational efficiency while meeting and exceeding customer service objectives, service KPI's and financial goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Safety – ensures all safety standards and goals are met. Enhances the Continuous Improvement (CI) culture to promote a safe working environment and consistency at all branches.
- Employee Development – recruits, trains, career planning and performance management.
- Customer Experience – ensures the highest standards for quality repair is maintained; ensures timely invoicing and efficient throughput through the shops (WIP).
- Works closely with customers to understand their needs and alignment of our services / support to those needs.
- Service efficiencies – tracks, educates and develops technicians on productivity priorities, supporting work in process (WIP) requirements and service completion rates.
- Ensures that the highest standards for technical and quality excellence are maintained and proper technical evaluation and risk analysis is applied to all activities.
- Partners with other departments – sales, used sales, parts, product support sales and rental operations to provide quality customer service.
- Completes all administrative activities timely.
- Financial – Manages department P&L and takes the appropriate measures to meet / exceed budget expectations.
- Develops and manages the strategic plans and financial reporting system to support the individual service departments.
- Systematically tracks, compiles and analyzes product and production problems in order to ensure timely completion and customer satisfaction at the lowest cost possible.
- Compliance with company and Caterpillar policies and procedures.
- Researches and implements new product offerings and or opportunities that will enhance our ability to support the customer and grow our business.
- Performs any job that may be assigned as necessary to meet the company, department or individual goals and objectives.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Must have minimum of ten years' service/ product support experience.
- Must have ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- At least 8 years supervisory experience to include supervision of Union employees.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must be organized and a good planner.
- Must have positive attitude and be a self-starter
- Must have the ability to set and meet goals.
- Must maintain a high standard of ethics and integrity.
- Must possess a "team leadership style." Team approach to sharing ideas and to mentoring subordinates, one who leads by example and demonstrates appreciation of team inputs and accomplishments
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Walking: Moves about on foot, often up and down stairs.
- Handling: Seizes, helps, or works with hands.
- Lifting: Up to 50 lbs. daily, frequent exertion. Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment parts and tools.
- Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
- Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
- Standing: Remains in standing position if required to perform various functions of the job
- Climbing: In and out of equipment.
- Raising/Lowering: Goes up and down in man lifts.
- Vision: Reads computer and paperwork.
- Talking: Communicates via telecommunications and in person.
- Sitting: Sits at desk for long periods of time.
- Travel: Frequent (weekly to monthly) day trips to assigned branches, with occasional overnights for branch coverage, company meetings, Caterpillar training, Conferences, etc.
ENVIRONMENTAL:
- Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
- Temp/Weather: Works in an office environment.
