Graphic Designer
At Hawthorne, we see graphic design as visual storytelling that engages, informs, and inspires. We are looking for a highly creative graphic designer who can take conceptual ideas and create visual representations, both in print and electronic media. Our ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of current design software and is skilled with every step of the design process from concept to the final deliverable. Collaborating with multiple teams at our company, the graphic designer should be able to take direction from written or spoken ideas and convert them into a design that connects. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of branding and marketing, with the ability to vary style and layouts depending on the project.
ESSENTIAL TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work on a wide range of projects and media, using various computer software to visualize and develop innovative graphic designs that meet business goals.
- Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize with multiple departments or teams for a wide range of materials that may include digital advertisements, presentations, programming collateral, signage, internal communications, newsletters, and marketing materials.
- Work with the creative team to develop solutions in delivering messages to customers across digital and print platforms.
- Deliver high-quality work in fast-paced, high-volume settings, consistently managing 20 deliverables per month while meeting or exceeding production standards.
- Work independently and cooperatively on multiple projects with the creative team, meeting deadlines and scheduling project implementation based on workload, which may include five or more simultaneous projects.
- Work with the creative team to develop creative and innovative ideas that keep our brand current while following Hawthorne’s brand guidelines.
- Develop design concepts that effectively communicate the personality, attitude, goals, and objectives of Hawthorne.
- Maintain a cohesive visual identity and implement branding guidelines across all marketing properties as well as consistently incorporating these same principles throughout the product-user experience.
- Create designs for marketing collateral used at company and corporate events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable taking a project from concept to completion, including communication with team and vendors.
- Experience with video editing is strongly preferred but not required.
- Real Estate Photography is strongly preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of Web Design, basic HTML CSS skills is strongly preferred but not required.
- Ability to perform work that is routine and organized.
- Present professional appearance.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong self-management and prioritization skills.
- Background in fast-paced, high-volume workflows with a focus on quality and timely delivery.

- Manage the design and uploading process of all project material, understanding best practices for using a content management system.
- Ability to proactively manage and assess ticket requests, ask clarifying questions, and plan and execute tasks efficiently.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Portfolio submission required.
- Incorporation of a skills assessment project as a final stage for leading candidates.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- BA/BS Degree in Graphic Design or related field preferred, but not required OR 3 years of professional experience.
- Some travel required (1-3 weeks annually).
- Chattanooga, TN Based.
