The Medication Technician plays a crucial role in providing quality care to patients by assisting with the administration of medications and ensuring that all medical protocols are followed. Duties
- Administer prescribed medications to patients according to established protocols and guidelines.
- Monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects related to medication administration.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, including medication records and patient vital signs.
- Assist in the development of individualized care plans in collaboration with nursing staff.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Provide support in hospice care settings, offering comfort and assistance to patients and their families.
- Educate patients and their families about medication management and health maintenance.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology and medical terminology.
- Proficient in taking vital signs and understanding their implications for patient health.
- Experience or familiarity with hospice care practices is highly desirable.
- Ability to accurately document medical records and maintain organized files.
- Understanding of home community care principles, ensuring a holistic approach to patient well-being.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy is upheld at all times.
- A background as a nurse or relevant healthcare professional is advantageous but not mandatory.
