Position: Intermediate Counselor
Reports to: Building Principal
Qualifications
- Possession of a Master’s or higher degree.
- Valid Michigan teacher’s certificate with a School Counseling (NT) endorsement or School Counselor License (SCL).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Exhibit a passion for working with youth in a school environment.
- Demonstrate proficiency with usage and integration of technology.
- Demonstrate knowledge of state K-12 career readiness curriculum.
- Understand PBIS, MTSS, ACEs and Restorative Practices.
- Able to develop Social Emotional Curriculum.
- Work well with students, parents, staff, outside stakeholders and colleagues.
- Willing and able to collaborate with district counselors to unify programming K-12.
- Exceptional communication, analysis, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Supports with 504 case management.
- Able to positively and professionally respond to the individual needs of students.
- Able to handle complex and stressful issues or situations with sounds judgement, common sense, and a calm demeanor.
- Participates in professional development, maintains appropriate certification and qualifications.
- Adheres to district and school rules and procedures.
- Conducts behavior to demonstrate collegiality and professionalism.
- Maintains regular predictable in-person attendance.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally life and/or move up to 35 pounds such as books and other materials.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
