What are the responsibilities and job description for the CDL Truck Driver position at Hayes Manufacturing?
SUMMARY: Drives tractor-trailer combination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations, to transport and deliver products by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

- Inspects truck before and after trips and submits reports indicating truck condition.
- Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
- Prepares receipts for load picked up.
- Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
- Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
- Loads and unloads truck.
- Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
- Ties down load according to company safety policies, ensuring cargo is secure during transit.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILSS & ABILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Must have a Class A CDL license
- Must be able to drive a manual transmission
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to walk; stand; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
