About the Role:
As a Director of Quality, you will play a critical role in leading and overseeing the Quality programs, processes, and standards for our Power Brake Business. This position offers the opportunity to drive and maintain a world-class quality function, ensuring our safety-sensitive products meet the highest standards. You’ll collaborate with a talented team to drive innovation and excellence, taking ownership of key responsibilities that directly contribute to our success.
Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities Include:
- Manage a team of Quality Engineers, Quality Coordinators, and Quality Inspectors/Testers, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Establish and implement strategies and tools to drive a world-class quality program for safety-sensitive products.
- Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to support data-driven decision-making.
- Oversee Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and ensure defect-free new product launches.
- Lead customer interactions related to Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation and respond to quality inquiries.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure statistical methods are used for PFMEA and Product Control Plans, reviewing capability studies to meet internal and customer requirements.
- Reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), including scrap, rework, and warranty costs, through effective quality management.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for internal and external quality issues.
- Support Supplier Quality initiatives and ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
- Develop and monitor Inspection and Test plans/SPC with a focus on minimizing COPQ.
- Create and maintain quality documentation, including work instructions, quality alerts, and procedures.
- Collect and report key quality metrics, such as COPQ and scrap rates, to management for continuous monitoring and improvement.
What We’re Looking For:
Education, Skills, Experience, and Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, or Science, with one to three years of related work experience.
- Experience with ISO/IATF QMS, APQP, FMEA, 8D, and PPAP preferred.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and quality methodologies.
- Certified ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor (CQA) preferred.
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or actively working toward certification preferred.
- Training or certification in Lean Manufacturing.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016.
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification preferred.
- Strong ability to interpret technical documents, engineering drawings, and specifications.
- Proficiency in mathematical concepts such as probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Skilled in problem-solving, data collection, and root cause analysis.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
