What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN/Health Unit Coordinator position at Hayes Residence?
Directly responsible to: Director of Nursing
Description: The LPN/Health Unit Coordinator will plan, implement, and maintain a nursing schedule that meets the appropriate needs of the department. The Staffing Coordinator will be aware of all rules and regulations pertaining to the nursing department.
Qualifications:
1) Preferably some training or experience working with geriatrics in nursing homes.
2) Holds LPN License with the state of Minnesota.
Demands: Good mental and physical health, emotional stability, and maturity. Staff member must be neat and well-groomed in appearance.
Position Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
Staffing Coordinator tasks:
- Manages daily, monthly, emergency, as needed staffing needs
- Creates monthly nursing calendar
- Resolves staffing schedule conflicts, call-ins, and PTO requests
- On-call for staffing related questions
- Flexible to fill open shifts as needed in emergencies
- Support/assist with the hiring process: coordinate onboarding with HR, schedule staff trainings/start dates, follow up with new staff to promote competence and staff engagement
- Notify DON of staffing absence and reasoning (for infection control)
- Monitor and communicate staffing concerns/patterns to DON (tardiness, absences, no call/no show)
- Provide direct care work shifts
- Collaborate with DON to complete onboarding and routine staff competencies and re-education
- Complete quarterly and as needed audits, per QAPI, QAA, survey POC
-Shift works (Mon-Fri) on-call alternating every other week.
