Position Summary:
The Safety and Security Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe, secure, and compliant work environment by developing, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, and security programs, policies, and procedures. This position focuses on preventing workplace injuries, ensuring compliance with safety and security regulations, and fostering a culture of safety and vigilance across the organization. The Safety and Security Manager will also oversee security protocols to protect personnel, property, and sensitive information, ensuring the overall safety of the workplace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain workplace safety programs and procedures.
- Work with leadership to create and maintain KPI’s and dashboards representing Safety and Security.
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain Hazmat and Forklift certification programs, including certified trainers, certification database, recertification process, and certification cards.
- Train employees on safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain and update safety documentation, including records of training, inspections, and incident reports.
- Collaborate with leadership and staff to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies and ensure timely reporting of incidents.
- Manage emergency preparedness plans for fire, natural disasters, and security incidents, and conduct training and drills to ensure readiness.
- Oversee and ensure the safety and security of all warehouse and office facilities, including monitoring security systems and access controls.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
- Manage and supervise security personnel, including security guards and contractors, ensuring appropriate coverage and performance.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services to ensure effective response to security threats.
- Maintain and update the facility’s security systems, including CCTV, alarms, access control systems, and surveillance equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant security regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Investigate security incidents, accidents, and breaches, preparing reports and taking necessary corrective actions.
- Mange security- related budgets, including equipment upgrades and training expenses.
- Provide security training and awareness programs for employees and visitors.
- Review and update security policies regularly to address evolving threats and business needs.
- Liaise with management to ensure the alignment of security strategies with overall business goals and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in facility security management, preferably in a warehousing, logistics, or 3PL (third-party logistics) environment.
- Proven experience in managing security teams, systems, and emergency protocols.
- Experience with access control systems, surveillance technologies (CCTV), alarm systems, and other security-related equipment.
- Proven ability to conduct training sessions and communicate safety information effectively.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CHST, or OSHA 30/50-hour training) preferred.
- Security-related certifications (Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), or preferred similar.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven experience in managing security teams, systems, and emergency protocols.
- Strong understanding of security protocols, risk management practices, and relevant laws and regulations related to facility security.
- Ability to identify and mitigate potential security risks, while maintaining operational efficiency.
- Strong analytical skills to assess threats, incidents, and create reports.
- Good knowledge of emergency response and crisis management practices.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage and motivate security personnel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with employees, contractors, vendors, and law enforcement.
- Ability to clearly communicate security policies, procedures, and incident reports to management and staff.
- Proactive and solution-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations, particularly in emergencies or crisis scenarios.
- Comfortable working with security software, including monitoring systems, access control platforms, and incident reporting tools.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software for reporting and documentation.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move around facilities for extended periods.
- Occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in various physical environments, including standing, crouching, or climbing.
- Ability to conduct regular site walks if the warehouse and office facilities, including inspecting security systems and conducting patrols.
Work Environment:
- Primarily works in an office setting with frequent visits to warehouses and administrative offices.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and potential hazards depending on the work site.
- Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when on-site.
- Willingness to work outside regular business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, when necessary to respond to security incidents or emergencies.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional travel to company locations, project sites, or training events (approximately 30-50%).
Equipment Used:
- Standard office equipment, such as computers and printers.
- Safety equipment, such as monitoring devices, PPE, and testing tools.
- Software for reporting and managing safety data.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversee safety coordinators, specialists, or other related staff as needed.
