What are the responsibilities and job description for the Church Childcare/Nursery Worker position at Haymarket Church?
Purpose: Provide safe, nurturing care for children (ages 0–4) in our nursery classroom during Sunday worship and for volunteer/staff children during setup. Candidates are expected to be committed to Christian faith. Responsibilities:
- Offer age-appropriate care: snacks, diaper changes, play, stories, and prayer.
- Create a safe environment, respecting food allergies.
- Build trust with children, parents, and volunteers.
- Setup/cleanup nursery and sanitize toys weekly.
- Follow Safe Sanctuary guidelines and church policies.
- Ensure children are released to guardians only.
- Hours include Sundays, 8:30 -11:30 AM (including holidays). Additional opportunities given for other church events, i.e. Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Christmas Eve, Vacation Bible School, etc.
Requirements:
- Experience with children; dependable and adaptable.
- Minimum age: 18.
- CPR and first aid knowledge (preferred).
- Background check and Safe Sanctuary training required.
