Role Description:
The Estimator works closely with the estimating team under the Director of Pre-Construction, reviewing project drawings and specifications, and subcontractors' and vendors' proposals to develop budgets for multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Pre-Construction Responsibilities:
- Review all documentation to gain a deep understanding of the entire project and its requirements.
- Assist the pre-construction team in procurement, providing quantity take-offs, scope review meetings, and issuing contracts and purchase orders.
- Visit sites as necessary for pre-bid meetings.
- Prepare construction budgets by reviewing project plans and specifications, including updates or changes.
- Obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors.
- Evaluate and level bids.
- Resolve cost discrepancies.
- Analyze and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
Construction Estimator Requirements:
- Prior working experience as a construction estimator for at least 3 years.
- Familiarity with computer programs such as Procore, Stack estimating software, and Excel.
- Good time-management skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Experience/Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
- Prior related experience with a Multi-family affordable residential and Commercial GC/CM.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (specifically Excel, Word, and Project).
- Proficient in estimating quantity take-off software.
