Project Assistant Superintendent
1. Construction Management: Assist the Project Superintendent in managing the construction process for the project ensuring that work is executed according to the project drawings, specifications and schedule including daily coordination and direction for the placement of work so that it is safe, within budget, on schedule and to the customer's satisfaction. Maintain an on-site full-time presence and serve as the main point of all construction activities. Identify potential delays and implement corrective measures as necessary to keep the project on schedule.
2. Coordination and Collaboration: Assist the Project Superintendent to coordinate all project construction activities including collaboration with the HEW Corporate and site office team and other project team members and subcontractors to maintain effective communication and cooperation among those involved in the project in order to successfully complete the project.
3. Field Team Supervision: Assist the Project Superintendent with supervision of Field Engineers assigned to the Project.
4. Quality Assurance and Control: Assist the Project Superintendent in monitoring and inspecting the construction work to ensure it meets the required quality standards and complies with the project plans, specification and relevant codes and regulations. Identify any potential issues or deviations and work with the team to address them promptly.
5. Documentation and Reporting: Assist the Project Superintendent in maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation related to project progress, schedule and costs including daily reports, site diaries, and any changes made during construction.
6. Safety Compliance: Assist the Project Superintendent to promote a safe working environment on the construction site by adhering to all safety protocols and ensuring that workers follow safety guidelines and procedures.
7. Subcontractor Management: Assist the Project Superintendent in supervising and coordinating the work of subcontractors, ensuring they adhere to the project drawings, specifications and schedule. Assist with interpretation of plans and specifications and the review and coordination of Requests for Information (RFIs) and Change Order Requests.
8. Material and Equipment Inspection: Assist the Project Superintendent in coordinating material deliveries by checking material requirements in advance and comparing with the delivery status. Additionally, inspect materials delivered to the job for quantity, quality and condition, and report on missing and/or damaged items.
9. Surveying and Layout: Assist the Project Superintendent in supervising surveying and layout for conformance with project drawings and documents.
10. As-Built Drawings: Participate in the preparation of as-built drawings, which document final construction and any changes made during the construction process.
11. Weekly Meetings: Participate in daily and weekly meetings including coordination and progress meetings, safety meetings, etc.
12. Project Management Software: Become proficient with the project management software used for the project.
13. Punchlist Development and Management: Develop and manage punchlists and close-out requirements with subcontractors to ensure proper handover to the owner.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Commercial construction experience preferred
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes and familiarity with construction plans, specifications, and relevant construction management software/tools.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience in construction and familiarity with construction site practices with a proven track record of successfully managing construction projects.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide on-site personnel.
- Ability to manage project budgets and control costs.
- Verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with a team.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks concurrently with an extraordinary level of attention to detail.
- Proficient in the use of computer devices (desktop & laptop)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
