What are the responsibilities and job description for the CHI - Center Attendant position at HaysMed?


Position Summary

Under the supervision of the managerial chain, the Center Attendant independently attends to two areas of The Center for Health Improvement (CHI), including the Locker Rooms and the Play Center. The Center Attendant ensures that the locker rooms and all other areas of CHI are kept clean and tidy, and that all equipment is in proper working order. Additionally, this position oversees the delivery, care, and pickup of all children, and is responsible for creating a fun and safe environment for the children.


Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within first two weeks of employment.
    • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification required within first two weeks of employment.
    • Basic First Aid certification required within first six months of employment.
    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Work Experience/Skills:
    • Excellent communication skills, essential for effectively collaborating with parents, children, and CHI’s leadership team, are required.
    • Previous experience in childcare service preferred.
    • Previous experience in customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Locker Rooms
    • Clean locker rooms and other areas of the facility.
    • Pick up soiled laundry.
    • Restock and replenish the grooming area and showers with toiletries.
    • Mop wet shower room floors.
    • Collect and report lost-and-found items.
    • Collect, sort, and wash soiled laundry (members’ clothing and towels); monitor washer temperatures; fold laundry; and monitor and report soap/chemical inventory.
    • Return members’ clean laundry to appropriate lockers, replenish towel supply, and maintain laundry room.
    • Ensure fitness area and equipment are clean by picking up trash, vacuuming, and dusting.
    • Ensure all equipment is in proper working order; remove any non-functioning equipment and report appropriately.
  • Play Center
    • Demonstrate leadership and organization to maintain a safe environment for a large group of children, ranging in age from six weeks to 12 years old.  
    • Ensure all children are checked in and out of facility software.
    • Monitor and supervise infants, toddlers, and young children to ensure their safety and comfort while parents are utilizing the facility.
    • Enforce the child security procedures to ensure children are picked up by approved guardian(s).
    • Undergo training/become knowledgeable on working with children that may have learning or physical disabilities, while maintaining a fully inclusive space.
    • Create relationships and demonstrate optimal customer service with parents and children to ensure member retention.
    • Continuously communicate updated policies/procedures to keep parents informed.
    • Work closely with Member Services to ensure that all required childcare-related paperwork is completed; maintain up-to-date information for all children.
    • Track inventory of supplies; communicate needs for ordering more supplies.
    • Ensure the return of all Play Center equipment to proper storage areas; ensure all equipment is in proper working order; remove any non-functioning equipment and report appropriately; and maintain proper equipment operations.
    • Clean and sanitize Play Center area, which includes but is not limited to toys, tables, chairs, cubbies, countertops, etc.; vacuum and remove trash daily; and maintain a daily log of cleaning responsibilities.
    • Secure childcare area at end of shift to ensure toys, furnishings, equipment, and supplies are stored in appropriate places.
  • Other Duties
    • Perform other duties, as assigned.

HIPAA:  This position will have access to the Protected Health Information described below, in order to carry out the duties related to the position at Hays Medical Center, based on the following criteria:

  • Primary – required (routine) to do the job;
  • Secondary – required for the job, but mostly by exception; and
  • None – no approved access

    • Clinical Information (information that describes a patient’s health status): Diagnosis, Reports/Medical Notes, Test Results, Problem List, Procedures, History and Physical 
    • Coding Information (clinical information that is in (alpha) numeric format): ICD-9 Codes, Rev Codes, CPT Codes
    • Financial Information/Insurance (information related to insurance, billing, and payment): Billing Information, Payer Name, Payer ID, Account Balances, Plan Elements Covered, Payment Information, Payment Rates

Infection Control: This position will include initial and ongoing training in dealing with infection control. Training could include, but is not limited to, blood-borne pathogens, bodily fluids, and biohazardous materials as it applies to your daily work environment.
