Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Computer skills

- Maintain current TB testing as required by Health Department regulations
Performance Responsibilities:
- May attend the monthly meetings of our district counselors / social workers and collaborate for training for all grade levels tied to State Standards designed to prevent the isolation and stigmatization of homeless students. Offer professional development on homeless and trauma for inservice training.
- Attend district events to distribute information on McKinney-Vento rights and services offered by USD #261: (Ex. Open House, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and family special events at each building, including PAT and ECC).
- Conduct face to face training for administrators, counselors, nurses, district mental health professionals, and transportation staff on how to identify homeless students in order to increase district-wide awareness of McKinney-Vento laws and eligible students. Conduct video training (at minimum) for EVERY district staff member.
- Conduct verification visit/phone call, promptly with each McKinney-Vento or Foster Care student and /or parents or caregivers, and connect them with any needed services, provide follow up, and document outcomes.
- Offer to make presentations to raise staff awareness concerning the rights of homeless students at staff meetings of every building in the district.
- Coordinate transportation for students to and from area shelters or the residence they are staying at to their school of origin. Communicate daily or as needed with transportation staff
- Assist with completion and submission of paperwork, applications and required documents to obtain Kancare, birth certificates, SNAP, social security, etc.
- Maintain a master spreadsheet on all homeless students containing the student's name, school, grade, services provided and their outcome, and at what level the student scored on the State Reading and Math assessment, also keep individual records on each verified McKinney-Vento student to be shared only on as needed basis, as these records are highly confidential.
- Provide Love & Logic or other classes for parents at least once per year to provide effective parenting skills.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding student and staff information in order to remain in compliance with legal requirements and to maintain a professional work environment.
- Consult when needed with building SIT teams when McKinney-Vento or Foster Care students are discussed.
- Attend IEP meetings whenever possible for McKinney-Vento students 13. Collaborate with community organizations and churches to leverage resources for McKinney -Vento and Foster Care students.
- Attend area events/meetings to increase awareness of McKinney-Vento program (Chamber, etc)
- Maintain regular contact with area resources and shelters, develop ongoing working relationships with all Wichita area resources.
- Immediately notify food service for all McKinney-Vento qualified students with required verification email.
- Enter each qualified McKinney-Vento student into appropriate powerschool and KIDS system fields, run reports and share data when requested by district office for state reporting
- Perform other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Write annual proposal for the McKinney-Vento Federal Grant program, maintain all grant communication, records, and budget requirements. Ensure all grant requirements are followed and carried out fully, in accordance with KSDE and federal guidelines.
- Function as the Foster Care Liason for the district per federal requirements. Maintain records of all foster care students. Serve foster care students and families for all schools related or social service needs. Maintain contact with all Foster Care Placement agency Case Workers and Educational liaisons. Train appropriate district staff on foster care student issues. Collaborate with Transportation for foster care special transportation needs. Provide cost share information for USD 261 transportation department and referring agency.
- As SBHC Clinic Coordinator, act as the communication liaison between KU Medical Practice and USD 261 to facilitate best working relationship between both parties. 22. Assist and facilitate meetings between KU and SBHC staff with space requirements, logistics, etc. to ensure clinic function.
- Supervise and evaluate McKinney/Clinic Secretary position.
- Attend community events to promote SBHC services. Partner with all district buildings to provide assistance with sports physicals, shot clinics, etc. as KU/SBHC are able to provide.
- Represent USD 261 on community resource boards/committees associated with McKinney-Vento or Foster Care, as an active member or a consultant. (Ex. Haysville Hope, Haysville Community Outreach, Haysville Ministerial Alliance, Federal Citizens Review Panel).
- Coordinate community resource partnerships regarding McKinny-Vento and Foster Care, and communicate all partner information to district counselors and social workers. 27. Migrant Contact with state and regional Migrant Coordinator. Maintain records, facilitate meetings, and parent communication.
- Help facilitate immediate enrollments of McKinny-Vento and foster students with buildings. Gather information on previous IEP school records, counseling plans in place, and any other special considerations from previous schools and placements.
