Title: Material Handler/Forklift Operator
Classification: Full Time – Hourly
Pay Range: $18 to $19
Location: Pacific Grove, CA
Reports To: Yard Manager

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for moving, organizing, and storing materials within the yard to support efficient operations and provide great customer service. Key duties include loading and unloading trucks, transferring materials to designated storage areas, and preparing items for shipping or distribution. The role also involves verifying shipment accuracy, maintaining inventory records, and ensuring materials are handled safely and efficiently to prevent damage.
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, or containers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other materialhandling equipment.
- Move materials to and from storage areas and staging areas.
- Verify incoming shipments against packing lists and purchase orders to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare materials for shipping, including packaging, labeling, and documentation.
- Provide excellent customer service by loading material into customer vehicles as requested.
- Follow safety procedures as outlined by the company safety program and operator manual for forklift.
- Keep all areas stocked and neat to facilitate efficient load building processes.
- Keep management aware of any delays or discrepancies.
- Treat all customers and coworkers in a helpful and professional manner, providing excellent customer service.
Qualifications:
- Previous warehouse and forklift experience
- Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret orders and invoices
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions
- Ability to multitask in fast paced environment.
- Experience working in a team atmosphere.
- Ability to lift 75100 pounds consistently
- Must take and pass drug test and consent to a background check
- Knowledge of dimension lumber, panel products, and other building materials is preferred
