What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraeducator Bilingual/Biliterate - Arabic position at Hayward Unified School District?
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of limited or non-English speaking students in a classroom or other learning environment by interpreting written materials and oral lectures; serve as an interpreter for teachers or non-English speaking parents as directed; perform a variety of routine clerical support duties including maintaining student records and files; assist in the preparation of instructional materials; provide oral and written translation for students, parents, teachers, administrators and others. This Class must meet the requirements of the Federal and State "No Child Left Behind" NCLB legislation. Qualifications are any combination equivalent to 48 semester units of college study or an AA Degree or upon passing a NCLB qualifying written examination, and one year experience working with children in an instructional setting using oral and written bilingual skills and experience working with people of various cultures.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Some positions in this classification may require a Valid Class C driver's license and a safe driving record.
Incumbents in this class must be able to speak and write in a designated second language.
