Program Manager is the administrator, leader, coach of a program or programs of study within a department. Â Individual programs of Study or groups of related subject matter disciplines with more than one full-time faculty member and a significant number of adjunct faculty may be assigned a program manager. Additionally, program managers may be provided for single programs of study where national accreditation efforts are involved, even if there are limited program faculty.

Associate degree in Medical Assisting with a minimum of five years in a medical office or other healthcare facility. The applicant must have an active medical assisting certification (CMA, RMA) and be in good standings with the accreditation agency. Excellent human relations, and communication skills are required.

Preferred skills are experience in teaching at the secondary level, knowledge of formative and summative assessment, instructional design, and strategic planning.

- This is a 9-month faculty position.  Hire date is August 1, 2025.  Qualified candidates may be interviewed and vetted prior to the closing date of April 1, 2025. Apply early for best consideration.Specifically responsible for program leadership, management, and direction in the following functions, the program manager shall:
- Lead by teaching (shall have a reduced teaching load) and by actively participating in student recruitment activities and in encouraging program faculty to do so;
- Foster and maintain a nurturing learning environment and a program workplace emphasizing institutional core values;
- Cultivate faculty and staff professionalism, camaraderie, and the pursuit of excellence;
- Participate in the development, analysis and implementation of varying methods of course development;
- Encourage and assist faculty in the periodic evaluation, assessment, and planning of program functions and foster the development and implementation of long-range objectives, goals, and plans;
- Oversee teaching and conducting annual performance reviews of program faculty to be reviewed by the Dean;
- Maintain adequate procedures for faculty participation in program administration, including the formulation and development of budgets and financial plans, and for interchange of information concerning program matters;
- Utilize all appropriate means at his or her disposal to provide program faculty and staff with opportunities for continuing personal and professional development;
- Ensure that program faculty members do not assume or be assigned undue responsibilities which might encroach upon the performance of their duties and serve as the channel for inter-institutional request;
- Act as an adviser for students regarding courses required in the program or delegate this responsibility to faculty members under his or her supervision, and advise other interested individuals relative to programs and affairs;
- Develop and maintain professional relationships and serve as a spokesperson within the College and the community with agencies, businesses, and organizations essential to the program's mission;
- Utilize all appropriate means at his or her disposal to provide the faculty and staff of the program with opportunities for continuing personal and professional development;
- Provide leadership to uphold the standards and criteria set forth by the accrediting agencies that impact the program's instruction and professional programs;
- Serve on faculty, college and/or University and Community College System of North Carolina committees as appropriate;
- Maintain professional skills and subject expertise through continual study and research and through involvement in professional organizations;
- Participate in grant development and management;
- Support and encourage college-sponsored initiative and activities;
- The Program Manager is responsible for maintaining the medical assisting program's accreditation by ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- The Program Manager will oversee and maintain accurate records for the Clinical Practicum.Â
- Maintain annually updated course syllabi and provide each student with a written statement of course requirements at the beginning of the semester including texts, course content and competencies and evaluation.
- Prepare course materials; use appropriate teaching techniques including delivering lectures, leading discussions and conducting laboratory demonstrations; and perform other activities, which are related to and meet the requirements of the courses.
- Conduct evaluations of student performance and assign grades on the basis of such evaluations.
- Maintain records of student attendance and grades according to college and state policy and procedure.
- Maintain posted office hours as required by College policy and procedure and be available for student conferences and tutoring.
- Responsible for the development and revision of course content, textbook/equipment selection, instructional materials and teaching assignments/scheduling.
- Responsible for administering student surveys in classes as prescribed by College procedure.
- Participate in the development and implementation of articulation programs and agreements and promote student participation in such programs.
- Provide students with instruction and career advisement and assistance in transferability as appropriate.
- Work with students and employers in occupational settings, on-the-job training, practicums, internships and similar work-related situations as needed.
