Position: Emergency Response Technician
Job Summary:
Remediates oil and hazmat spills and cleans industrial tanks and equipment. Performs routine and frequent manual and heavy labor tasks.
Reports To: Operations Manager
Essential Functions:
- Decon equipment or areas contaminated with oil or other hazardous, toxic, or caustic materials using detergents and solvents, pressure washers, absorbent pads, filter pumps, drum skimmers, and marco skimmers.
- Operate extremely high pressured water blast equipment to clean heavy industrial equipment (pipe, boilers, tanks, heat exchangers, bundles, barges).
- Respond to emergencies such as oil spills, train derailments, and hazardous material leaks.
- Assist in the remediation of soil, debris and other materials to clean up spill sites
- Perform general housekeeping tasks such as sweeping, organizing, cleaning, lawn care, and other assigned tasks.
- Operate or assist in the operation of power tools and heavy equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, track hoes, backhoes.
- Load, hook up, break down vacuum truck hoses and other equipment.
- Cleanup work area and equipment after work is completed.
- Complete all appropriate paperwork including JSA’s and Work orders.

Job Requirements
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and hot, cold, or wet environments.
- Ability to perform work in enclosed (confined) spaces.
- Physically capable of standing, shoveling and performing other types of physical work for long periods of time.
- Ability to Work with hazardous materials including fumes and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and NORM.
- Capable of working long shifts under adverse conditions (up to 16 hours a day, and up to 14 days in a row).
- Ability to carry industrial hoses (up to 60 lbs) up and down flights of stairs.
- Medically and physically capable of wearing respirator while performing the above listed work.
- Must have reliable personal transportation to and from job site.
- Must be accessible by phone.
- Must be On Call 24/7.
- Ability to report to work within one hour of receiving call to work.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Must earn satisfactory results from a background/ employment history investigation and drug screening.
