Summary

The Executive Director of the DuPage Area Occupational Education System (DAOES) provides visionary leadership to 14 member high school districts in the area of Career and Technical Education (CTE), Career Pathways and Work-Based Learning, and provides sound oversight of the Technology Center of DuPage, which is located in Addison, IL. The Executive Director connects DAOES member high school districts with higher education and the larger business and workforce development ecosystem within DuPage County, in an effort to provide career and workforce based opportunities for students.

Career and Technical Education License or Endorsement required

Administrative Endorsement required

  • Please note that educators who hold a master's degree or higher in education, and have at least two (2) years of teaching experience, may be eligible to obtain the CTE endorsement through the education teacher pathway. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the DAOES Board of Directors and community to establish a strategic vision for DAOES;
  • Determine current and future career needs / opportunities for DAOES member district high school students;
  • Oversee the operations of the DuPage Area Education for Employment consortium of 14 DAOES member districts;
  • Maintain communication with the Board, DAOES / TCD staff, Association, Administration, and extended community (member school representatives, parents, etc.)
  • Provide direction and support to the building-level administration at TCD to ensure the effective day-to-day operation of the career center;
  • Coordinate the grant submissions and reporting for all CTEIG and PERKINS state funding for DAOES member districts;
  • Serve as a liaison to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) for DAOES member districts in the area of Career and Technical Education (CTE);
  • Provide visionary leadership in the area of Career and Technical Education (CTE), serving as a resource for the DAOES / TCD staff, as well as the 14 DAOES member districts in collaboration with the DuPage Regional Office of Education, business partners, and local colleges.
  • Lead routine CTE program evaluations (review, addition, or removal), recommending program revisions to the DAOES Board based on factors including alignment with system vision and goals.
  • About DAOES

    The DuPage Area Occupational Education System (DAOES), an Illinois Education for Employment (EFE) system, has two major functions :

  • planning for the delivery of Career and Technical Education (CTE) for a geographical area in Chicago's western suburbs, and
  • operating the Technology Center of DuPage (TCD), a Career & Technology Education center for 11th & 12th graders.
  • Located in Addison, Illinois, about 20 miles west of Chicago, DAOES provides services to schools and accepts enrollment from 14 high achieving school districts in the DuPage and Cook County area. DAOES serves students in the same geographical area as the College of DuPage. The System provides Career & Technical Education support to over 50,000 9-12 graders and more than 4,000 certified high school staff.

    Member districts include : Hinsdale Township High School District 86, Glenbard Township High School District 87, DuPage High School District 88, Community High School District 94, Community High School District 99, Fenton Community High School District 100, Lake Park Community High School District 108, Wheaton Warrenville CUSD District 200, Westmont CUSD 201, Lisle CUSD 202, Naperville CUSD 203, Lyons Township H.S. District 204, Indian Prairie School District 204, and Elmhurst CUSD 205.

    ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and / or events; collect and classify data; and consider a wide variety of factors when using equipment. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and / or groups; work with data of widely varied types and / or purposes; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment.

    Responsibilities include : working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives; managing multiple departments; Utilization of significant resources from other work units is routinely required to perform the job's functions.

    Working Environment

    The usual methods of performing the job's functions require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and / or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and / or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 40% sitting, 20% walking, and 40% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a clean atmosphere.
