Patient Access Coordinator

Patient Access Coordinators (PAC) are the gateway to care for our applicants to become patients with one-call resolution. PAC's will answer calls live, doing a high level assessment to determine clinical appropriateness for one of our facilities and verification of benefits. PAC's will collaborate with a number of other roles within the organization to provide resolution for the caller in the first call and to set up an appointment for a clinical assessment when appropriate. Customer service and sales are important skills, along with the ability to multi-task.

• Utilize customer service and sales skills to provide resolution to caller's needs.

• Conduct screening to determine clinical fit for Hazelden Betty Ford substance abuse services.

• Obtain financial and insurance/benefit information in order to determine eligibility to participate in the programs available through HBFF locations.

• Manage patient caseload to ensure conversion to admit.

• Ensure appropriate documentation is recorded in patient record to facilitate complete and accurate registration in the EHR.

This job requires up to six weeks of on-site training at either The Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, CA or at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation in Center City, MN. The hours for the training are Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4:30 PM. The employee must demonstrate job proficiency before they are approved to start working remotely. Ability to work remotely depends on continued job performance that is measured by attendance, punctuality, job metrics and call monitoring.

Required Qualifications:

• Associates Degree or three years equivalent experience
• 3 yrs customer service experience
• 1 yr call center or health care experience
• Strong technology/computer skills i.e. experience working with Medical EHR, comfortable navigating various system applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with health care insurance and finances
• Recovery and 12-step knowledge
• Experience in a chemical dependency or behavioral health setting
