What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Manufacturing, Belt Shop position at Hazelett Corporation?
As the Manufacturing Manager you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing production processes to ensure employee safety as well as efficient, high-quality manufacturing operations. This role involves managing production and maintenance teams, building employee engagement, maintaining equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to meet organizational goals.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Production Management: Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily manufacturing operations to safely meet production schedules, quality standards, and cost targets.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor manufacturing team members to enhance performance, safety, and teamwork.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for efficiency, cost reduction, and productivity enhancement through Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other methodologies.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to quality control standards and regulatory requirements, collaborating with the company’s quality resources to resolve issues.
- Safety & Compliance: Promote a culture of workplace safety by fostering open communication, implementing proactive training, enforcing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other industry regulations.
- Resource Management: Oversee product workflows including raw material into work cells, finished goods out of cells, and equipment maintenance to prevent downtime and production delays.
- Employee Development: Implement initiatives to ensure employee engagement and development, creating a culture of accountability and empowerment.
- Performance Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze data, and provide reports to company management on productivity, efficiency, and quality metrics.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing engineering teams to optimize productivity, streamline processes, reduce costs, and introduce new technologies or products.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Business Management, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5-10 years in manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively coordinate across departments.
- In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control standards, and safety regulations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, Lean principles, Six Sigma, and ERP systems.
- CNC machine operation experience (desirable).
- Welding experience (desirable).
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and maintain productivity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The duties of the Manufacturing Manager will be carried out in an office setting as well as require significant time in the production area with exposure to fumes, noise, and gases from equipment or machinery. Safety glasses, safety shoes, and other required equipment must be used in the production area.
