What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Aide (B.A.)/Teacher Assistant (T.A.)- District wide- 2024-2025 position at Hazelwood School District?
RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Directly responsible to the building principal or his/her designee.
B. Responsible for assisting the teacher(s) in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment in order that students may learn effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS
A. 36-60 College Credit hours minimum (B.A.)*, Missouri Teaching Certification (T.A.)
B. Ability and personality to work with colleagues teachers and other staff.
Pay Scale: Building Aide: $15.30-$18.65
Teacher Assistant: $16.85-20.53
Requires a minimum of 36 hours of college credit.
FUNCTIONS
A. Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
B. Conducts learning exercises with small groups of children.
C. Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
D. Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual children.
E. Provides escort assistance for children as necessary.
F. Helps maintain informal student performance records.
G. Assists teacher(s) on maintaining student work and study areas.
H. Assist with the supervision of children during play periods.
I. Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays.
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT
The period of employment is the school term or nine and one-half (9.5) months annually (40hours per week).
REQUIREMENTS
Must hold or obtain a Substitute Certification or current Missouri Teaching Certification issued by DESE
*Alternative Pathways:
There are three pathways to secure a substitute certificate in Missouri.
1. have 36-60 college credit hours,
2. complete a 20-hour course online, or
3. Complete the Parapro assessment.
