POSITION TITLE:  Director of Data, Assessment, and Accountability

 

REPORTS TO:   Deputy Superintendent / Chief Information Officer

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Deputy Superintendent and Chief Information Officer, the Director of Data, Assessment, and Accountability will oversee the performance measurement, data analysis reporting and areas of accountability for the entire district. Through keen data-driven decision making practices this individual will help shape critical decisions related to administrative and instructional programs at the district, department and school based level. This individual will ensure that the district remains in compliance with board, state and federal policies in all areas related to the position. The Director of Data, Assessment, and Accountability will also be responsible for ensuring that all performance measurement, data practices and accountability measures identified in the district strategic plan are reported and analyzed with fidelity.

 

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

 

Essential Functions:

 

  1. Directs the analysis of assessment data from national, state and district assessments and prepares the data for presentation to the superintendent, assigned district staff and the broader public
  2. Participates in monitoring all state and district accountability systems as it relates to student achievement and other student / district staff outcome data
  3. Provides training and staff development for district staff in all areas related to data, performance measurement and accountability
  4. Coordinates information to ensure state and federal compliance regarding student data district wide
  5. Conducts in-service programs to keep personnel informed as to new developments in data, assessment and accountability
  6. Serves as a consultant to the instructors in data processing in the vocational arts program
  7. Responsible for the districts remote and distance learning platforms for all areas related to data, performance measurement and accountability
  8. Provides accurate data for district stakeholders related to student achievement and other performance measures
  9. Develops, trains, supervises, and evaluates employees under direct supervision
  10. Maintains a cooperative relationship and open communication with those holding similar positions in other districts in the region and state, to investigate and implement feasible data processing programs and technology
  11. Develops plans and budgets for data, performance measurement and accountability expenditures
  12. Manages data recordkeeping of all assessments and other related data needs for the district
  13. Reports and prepares identified data for the district / state
  14. Projects, shows trend analysis and shares results and predictions with district staff
  15. Provides needed data (related to the identified position) for all superintendent and board requests
  16. Performs other duties consistent with professional competence as may from time to time be assigned.

 

Marginal Functions

 

 

  1. Attends Board of Education meetings, keeping the Board informed of school matters when assigned
  2. Makes visits to schools and school functions to observe operations and receives input from students, staff and parents when assigned  
  3. Conducts meetings with identified staff related to the position
  4. Participates and guides committees as designated by the Superintendent/designee
  5. Attends meetings and events with community organizations
  6. Performs other duties as designated by the Superintendent/Deputy Superintendent

 

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: 

 

  1. Standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing
  2. Normal attention with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less as well as 20 feet or more, required
  3. Light physical demand with regular lifting of very light to light (1 to 25 lbs.) items by hand

 

 

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education / Skills and Abilities:

  1. Advanced degree in statistical analysis, education or comparable discipline preferred
  2. Three or more years of progressive executive leadership experience with a track record of successfully leading performance measurement, data practices and accountability systems within complex settings preferred
  3. Track record of developing performance and outcome metrics, including formative and summative assessments within k-12 education or applicable settings
  4. Experience in providing and facilitating staff development / training
  5. Systems level thinker; can translate ideas into delivery at a broad scale
  6. Ability to manage people towards goals / outcomes and coach / develop strength in others
  7. Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills
  8. Deep commitment to closing student achievement gaps
  9. Deep understanding of school level operations

Salary: Based on experience per level 5 of the administrative salary schedule.

 

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:  

 

Typical office conditions with occasional exposure to outside environment.

                     

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids:

 

Computer and related software, copy machine, use of security vault.
