POSITION TITLE: Summer Administrative Intern
REPORTS TO: Deputy Superintendent
POSITION SUMMARY: The administrator Internship position will serve as a training opportunity for aspiring administrators and relieve the principal of such impediments as preventing current school principal from fulfilling their chief responsibility of instructional leadership.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions
- Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school.
- In absence of the principal, handles the responsibilities of the principal.
- Assists with parent activities.
- Conducts safety inspections and safety drill practice activities and prepares classroom posting on procedures to follow.
- Organizes and serves on school-based committees.
- Assists with disciplinary issues within the building and follows up on special cases, as necessary including transportation.
- Assists with orientation of new employees.
- Assists with the formulation and administration of the budget.
- Performs all other duties as directed by the principal.
- Attends and leads various meetings, including evenings and weekends.
- Oversees and implements scheduling including: academic, and before and after-school.
- Communicates with parents.
- Plans and organizes assemblies and events.
- Monitors work orders.
- Assists in analyzing and using assessment data to improve student achievement.
- Supervises afternoon and evening activities.
Marginal Functions
- Attends District administrative meetings, as required.
- Prepares handbooks, schedules and materials for school related activities.
- Participates in professional activities designed to enhance competency.
Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
- Standing, walking, sitting, talking, and hearing.
- Normal attention with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less as well as 20 feet or more, required.
- Light physical demand with regular lifting of very light to light (1 to 25 lbs.) items by hand.
Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Environmental and atmospheric conditions are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. Typical office conditions with occasional exposure to outside environment for recess duty.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Broad knowledge of an advanced and professionally specialized discipline or other studies not available in undergraduate schools, involving an advanced theoretical knowledge within a specialized field. Equivalent to a Master’s degree.
Experience: Requires a minimum of three years’ classroom teaching experience consistent with DESE’s administrative certification.
Skills and Abilities: Representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:
- Apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
- Compute discount, interest, profit and loss; commission, markup, and selling price; ratio and proportion, and percentage.
- Perform reading, writing and speaking at an intermediate level.
- Ability and personality necessary to work effectively with colleagues, parents, other individuals, community and school groups and organizations.
- Must demonstrate positive, effective “people skills”.
Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids
Computer and related software including Internet access, fax and copy machine.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required: Principal’s Certificate issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Salary: $6300 (393.75 per day) for 16 days which includes two make-up Saturdays. Position dates are Monday, June 12, 2023, through Friday, June 30, 2023.
