HB McClure is pleased to announce our 2025 Summer Internship Program at our corporate office in Harrisburg, PA. This 10 week program is designed to fully immerse you in our industry and business culture.
Emphasis is based on mentorship and connection to peers across all of our business lines, while you work and learn alongside leading experts in the HVAC, Plumbing and Mechanical industries.
Our internship placements are full-time, paid positions, designed to help students gain working experience in conjunction with your educational studies. The Summer Program will run from June thru August with weekly scheduled hours determined by our business needs.
We are searching for highly motivated, energetic mature individuals, who are current students and enrolled in education programs within the following disciplines: Construction Management, Project Management, HVAC or BAS Engineering.
As an HB McClure 2025 Summer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience and develop valuable skills in the HVAC, Plumbing, and Mechanical industries. Your work will directly contribute to ongoing projects and business operations. Below are the key responsibilities and tasks you may be involved in during your internship:
Project Support & Management:
- Assist Project Managers with coordinating schedules, tracking progress, and ensuring timely project execution.
- Support project planning efforts by reviewing blueprints, specifications, and submittals to understand scope and requirements.
- Help maintain project documentation, including RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, change orders, and daily reports.
Estimating & Procurement:
- Work alongside the Estimating team to review bid documents and assist in developing cost estimates.
- Analyze material take-offs and help prepare supplier/vendor quotes for upcoming projects.
- Support procurement efforts by researching vendor options, pricing, and availability of materials.
Research & Data Tracking:
- Conduct research on industry trends, materials, and technology to support project decision-making.
- Assist in tracking project financials, labor hours, and material costs to ensure budget compliance.
- Utilize Excel, project management software (Procore, Bluebeam, etc.), and company databases for reporting and analysis.
Field & Site Visits:
- Gain exposure to active job sites by accompanying project managers and technicians on walkthroughs.
- Observe construction phases, equipment installations, and troubleshooting processes in real-world settings.
- Participate in safety meetings and learn about job site compliance regulations.
Collaboration & Professional Development:
- Engage in mentorship sessions with industry professionals to gain insight into career paths and best practices.
- Network with peers and employees across various business units to understand different aspects of the industry.
- Participate in weekly check-ins and progress reviews to track learning objectives and career development goals.
MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be currently enrolled in a relevant program/major at an accredited college, university or trade school
- Must be in good academic standing
- Must provide own transportation and housing
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a willingness to learn
- Must have PA drivers license and clean driving record
- Ability to pass pre-employment criminal background and drug test screenings
**Preference is given to local students, as there are no allowances for housing or transportation.
