The Foreman at HB Utilities is responsible for overseeing and managing day-to-day operations on utility construction projects. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and timely completion of projects while managing a crew, equipment, and resources on-site. The Foreman will be a key leader on the job site, maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and productivity.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supervise, direct, and lead a team of laborers, operators, and subcontractors in the safe and efficient completion of utility construction projects (e.g., water, gas, sewer lines).
- Coordinate daily activities on the job site, ensuring proper use of equipment, materials, and personnel.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations and protocols, ensuring the safety of all crew members and the job site.
- Perform regular inspections of the job site to ensure work is progressing according to project plans and specifications.
- Ensure that work is completed on schedule and within budget, making adjustments as necessary to stay on track.
- Report project progress, delays, and issues to the Project Manager and collaborate to find solutions.
- Train and mentor crew members, promoting professional development and teamwork.
- Assist with equipment operation, material handling, and basic project tasks as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, equipment usage, and labor hours.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements on the job site.
- Address and resolve conflicts or concerns raised by crew members, subcontractors, or other stakeholders.
- Maintain high standards of quality control, ensuring that all work meets project specifications and industry standards.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience as a Foreman or in a leadership role in the construction or utility industry.
- Strong knowledge of utility construction processes, including trenching, pipe laying, and utility installation.
- In-depth understanding of safety regulations and procedures, with an emphasis on job site safety.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and specifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in managing crews, resources, and equipment on large-scale construction projects.
- Basic knowledge of construction equipment and machinery.
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions and a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials as needed (up to 50 lbs or more).
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, and climb for extended periods.
- Ability to work long hours when necessary to meet project deadlines.
