A Business Analyst is a professional who gathers and analyzes data about an organization's operations to identify problems, understand business needs, and propose data-driven solutions by working with stakeholders to improve systems and processes, ultimately aiming to achieve strategic goals through informed recommendations to management.
Key responsibilities of a business analyst may include :
- Gathering and analyzing data
- Collecting information from various sources like internal systems, market research, and user feedback to understand current business operations
- Identifying business problems
- Recognizing areas for improvement within the organization by analyzing data trends and patterns
- Requirements gathering
- Collaborating with stakeholders to define clear business needs and translate them into functional requirements for new or improved systems
- Process mapping
- Visualizing current business processes to identify inefficiencies and potential areas for optimization
- Developing solutions
- Proposing data-backed solutions to address business challenges, including potential system changes or process improvements
- Cost-benefit analysis
