Overview:

The ideal candidate will have 3 years of complex insurance defense litigation experience and knowledge of both Federal and State Rules. Medical Malpractice defense experience preferred.

Additional requirements include but are not limited to: excellent verbal and written communication skills; understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes; excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines; strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to function well in a high-paced environment; and initiative to complete daily tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Assist attorney(s) in complex state and federal cases from initial pleadings through trial.
  • Perform initial case assessments to determine further document discovery to facilitate initial investigation of claim.
  • Draft pleadings, scheduling orders, and motions for state and federal court.
  • Draft discovery requests and responses to include the preparation of voluminous records for production and drafting of privilege logs.
  • Interpret and summarize medical records and bills.
  • Prepare subpoenas for records.
  • Effectively communicate with experts, insurance adjusters, witnesses, clients, and opposing counsel.
  • Schedule meetings, depositions, and mediations.
  • Assist with jury selection and witness preparation for trial.
  • Meet a billing requirement of 140 hours per month.
  • Assist with preparation of trial notebooks and exhibits.
