Job Summary and Qualifications
The Finance Director will be responsible for organizing and maintaining the financial accounting systems for the group and coordinate the interface of the group’s accounting system with the corporate financial accounting system. The Director of Finance will establish operating policies and have oversight responsibilities for the financial activities of the operating units and consolidated business offices in the areas of accounts payable, general ledger, accounts receivable, employee payroll, cash disbursements, financial statements and tax information.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Develops plans and objectives with the VP of Finance and department staff regarding short and long range accounting programs in specific areas such as month end close, budgeting, profit and loss analysis, accounting systems, reporting and internal auditing.
Coordinates the group’s financial accounting functions to ensure accurate recording and reporting of clinic/physician financial information.
Maintains the group’s chart of accounts and controls the assignment of entity numbers.
Works with the leadership to develop operating units’ accounting policy and procedures that ensures timely payment of current liabilities to creditors, proper recording and control of cash receipts, recording of fixed assets, development of adequate procedures, instructions, controls, records and reports.
Works with the group’s CFO to develop and approve financial statements, including balance sheets, profit/loss statements and analysis of trend and budget variances.
Coordinates the utilization of the corporate internal audit program to ensure internal financial controls are regularly tested and described; coordinates the operating unit’s corrective action plans and tests the audit report response against policy and procedures.
Directs the preparation of statistical information and reports for the management and operations team.
Directs special projects in forecasting, performance to budget and financial analysis.
Interacts with Information Services on computer operations related to financial activities.
Assists with the selection and training of accounting/finance department personnel.
Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or other Related Area - required
EXPERIENCE:
More than 7 years of professional experience in accounting and auditing as a supervisor including two years in a health care organization.
Additional appropriate education may be substituted for two years of healthcare accounting experience.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
CPA preferred
