The Laborer at HB Utilities plays a key role in supporting utility installation and construction projects by performing a variety of physical tasks. This role is essential for the smooth operation of projects, assisting skilled tradespeople and ensuring job sites remain safe, organized, and operational.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation of utility systems, including water, gas, sewer, and electrical lines.
- Dig trenches, prepare construction sites, and move materials using manual tools or machinery.
- Clean and maintain job sites by removing debris and ensuring safety equipment is in place.
- Help with the setup and dismantling of equipment, including shoring, supports, and excavation tools.
- Operate light equipment and assist with heavier machinery under supervision.
- Perform manual tasks like lifting, loading, unloading, and sorting construction materials.
- Follow safety procedures and regulations while on the job site to prevent accidents.
- Assist in pipe installation and other utility-related work, including setting up equipment for excavation.
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently and according to project specifications.
- Maintain positive working relationships with the project team, including subcontractors and supervisors.
- Participate in maintaining safety standards and adhere to company policies and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in construction or utility work is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs or more).
- Strong attention to safety protocols and willingness to follow safety guidelines.
- Basic understanding of hand tools and construction materials.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Must be able to take direction from supervisors and communicate effectively with team members.
- OSHA certification or other safety-related certifications are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work long hours, sometimes in extreme weather conditions.
- Regularly required to lift, carry, and maneuver construction materials and equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and squat for extended periods.
