Purpose
The IT Intern role offers structured learning experiences, practical skill development, and mentorship opportunities for individuals interested in learning an IT discipline. This role will directly contribute to HC3’s IT team goals while offering practical, hands-on experience with a variety of IT sub-disciplines.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities for this position include the following:
- Data Collection and Analysis: Assist in gathering data related to hardware and software inventory.
- Inventory Enhancement: Ensure inventory processes capture all relevant and necessary information for IT hardware and software assets.
- Data Management: Collate and store data within IT systems to improve the IT team's ability to quickly find and access relevant information.
- Strategic Planning: Provide a comprehensive view of the IT environment to support more effective long-term strategic planning.
- Perform other tasks as needed to support current IT team workload and projects.

Education Experience and Certifications
While this internship is open to all, preference will be given to college students pursuing degrees in relevant fields such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
Work will be performed in a climate-controlled office space in the Irondale, Alabama HC3 facility.
Travel
This role requires no travel.
Physical Demand
This role will require using a computer for long periods of time while either sitting or standing. May occasionally be required to climb, bend, squat, and lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours
Position Type: Internships will be time-bound, aligning with the typical collegiate academic calendar. This allows for flexibility and accommodates students' schedules. The program will offer internships during the following semesters:
- Spring: Approximately the 2nd week of January – 2nd week of May
- Summer: Approximately the 2nd week of May – 2nd week of August
- Fall: Approximately the 2nd week of August – 2nd week of December
Work Hours: This position will be capped at 24 hours per week during HC3’s normal business hours; Monday - Friday, 7:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.
Continuation: Each internship will conclude at the end of the designated semester. However, interns may be eligible for consecutive internship periods, subject to departmental needs and performance evaluations. This allows for ongoing project support and intern development.
