The Lead Scheduler demonstrates expert skills and knowledge of the scheduling processes in all areas of Surgical Services to include hospital procedural areas. The position oversees the daily functioning and service quality of the scheduling staff and office.

Job Summary And Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Scheduler demonstrates expert skills and knowledge of the scheduling processes in all areas of Surgical Services to include hospital procedural areas. The position oversees the daily functioning and service quality of the scheduling staff and office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Monitors effective scheduling processes and procedures to maximize efficiency and accuracy of the surgical schedule.
- Provides training, clarification, and advice on scheduling issues for other team members.
- Is an integral part in coordination and communication with team leaders, staff, physician offices, etc.
- Performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care at HCA Florida Capital Hospital, including scheduling for Operating Room, sedated MRI cases, Endoscopy, Pre-Admission Testing, Cath lab, Labor and Delivery, Interventional Radiology and other areas as assigned.
- Works closely with staff to maintain accuracy of scheduled cases, flow of the schedule, accuracy of preference cards, and accuracy of block schedule.
- Participates in quality efficiency meetings, including Metric Review, Case Cancellation, and Case Time Schedule Accuracy.
- Assists in communicating with physician offices offering open schedule times and maintains surgeons block schedule releases and vacations.
- Evaluates cancellations, analyzes available data, reports recommendations, and implements changes.
- Analyzes data related to resources, reports recommendations, and implements changes.
- Displays positive support for the values and mission of the hospital.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of certified secretary program preferred
- Medical Terminology Class preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:
- 2 years of previous scheduling experience and supervisory experience preferred
