About the Role
The Registered Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures, monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, and assists with placement of artificial airways.

The ideal candidate will possess a State Registered Respiratory Therapist certification, a Vocational School Graduate or Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy, and current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications. You will also have a strong understanding of respiratory therapy principles and practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
- Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy.
- Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
- Assist with placement of artificial airways.
- Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patient for therapeutic response.
- Notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
- Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
- Respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.
