Job Overview
The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty.
- This role involves performing diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures, monitoring patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care.
Responsibilities
The Respiratory Therapist will perform patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure, as well as conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
- Administering respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy, while ensuring the safe and effective use of equipment and devices.
- Assisting with placement of artificial airways, initiating, monitoring, and maintaining mechanical ventilation, and notifying providers of any unintended responses.
As a valued member of our healthcare team, the Respiratory Therapist will also be responsible for responding to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity, and providing education to patients and families regarding respiratory health and disease management.
Qualifications
We are seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist who possesses a strong foundation in respiratory care principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification and an Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related field are required.
- BLS and ACLS certifications must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
