Job Summary and Qualifications
The Patient Safety Director is responsible for facilitating the transition from a retrospective, reactive model for risk management to a prospective, proactive loss prevention, harm reducing patient safety program. Promotes a culture of safety. Directs others within the facility towards process improvements that support the elimination of medical/health care errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes. Initiates and oversees the development of a comprehensive patient safety improvement program inclusive of the analysis and trending of data. This position demonstrates a high degree of responsibility, accountability and autonomy.
What qualifications you will need:

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, or related field Required

Master’s Degree Preferred
- 3 to 5 years of experience

RN with current Florida licensure or Compact RN License Required RN requirement may be waived for other Licensed Clinical Professionals with three consecutive years of Risk Management Director experience at an HCA-affiliated facility
- Certification in Patient Safety (CPPS) Required If not already CPPS, must complete the following:
- CPPS Examination must be taken within 90 days of hire
- CPPS Certification must be achieved within 12 months from date of hire
- CPHRM Required If not already CPHRM, must complete the following:
- CPHRM Examination must be taken within 90 days of hire
- CPHRM Certification must be achieved within 12 months from date of hire

These specialties include emergency care, heart, and vascular care. We are designated by the Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center. Other specialties include maternity and neonatal care.
