Job Summary And Qualifications
Position Summary: Provides patient care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional coronary, peripheral, and electrophysiology studies.
Essential Functions:
- Selects and operates equipment, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis, selects proper film size or given exam. Ensures proper identification and collimation, using appropriate markers, develops film as required.
- Transfers and properly position patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications. Provides immobilization as required and protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
- Assists physician during angiographic procedures, working with specialized equipment. Assists physicians in performance of examinations by programming injectors, administering opaque media, holding and turning patients, assisting in sterile procedures, documentation of procedures related to Cath/Specials, i.e. sheath removal, and procedural events in the medical record.
- Responsible for the correct identification of the patient demographics on each film to include correct permanent marker right or left identification.
- Practice sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness.
- Reviews the patient history to obtain pertinent clinical information.
- Adheres to radiation safety standards; participates in quality improvement and safety programs.
- Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements on or before the due date.
- Distributes documents to patients and providers as appropriate.
- Properly documents all medications used in the EMAR.
- Works and adjusts schedule as needed, including on call coverage to meet the needs of the department.
- Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
- Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate Degree or equivalent in Radiologic Technology
- ARRT Registry with Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) or Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) credentials or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVT) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
- State of Florida Radiologic Tech license
- BLS or BCLS - American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- ALS or ACLS – American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- 1 year of acute care experience
