Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic Histology Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our histology department, you will be responsible for performing histology and cytology procedures, including specimen processing/fixation, cell block preparation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine stains, IHC and special stains, case organization in accordance with department procedures. You will assure positive sample, block and slide identification, prepare and maintain reagents for routine stains and histology procedures, and perform preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation per manufacturer & department procedures and per department schedule.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should have a High School Diploma AND minimum two years of histology experience OR High School Diploma AND completion of an accredited program in Histotechnology OR Associate's degree in Chemistry, Biology AND one year of histology experience OR Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry. National Certification as a MT (ASCP) or HT (ASCP) is required. State license where required. You should possess thorough knowledge of histology methods and correlation to disease processes, ability to follow protocols for the proper fixation and routine staining of samples, and consistently prepare and produce specimen sections with appropriate slide orientation, thickness, and stain quality for microscopic diagnosis by a pathologist.
