The HealthTrust Chief Information Officer (CIO) will serve as a forward-thinking change agent, driving innovation and ideas throughout all HealthTrust’s lines of business’ including HCA supply chain and clinical education. An effective candidate will have strong technical skills and the ability to motivate diverse teams. Transparency across business functions is key to our overall success; therefore, the CIO will embrace and foster a culture of ideation and collaboration, serving as an influence both inside and outside the Information Technology organization. The CIO will be a thought partner who works closely with internal and external stakeholders. An ideal candidate will have strong communication and relationship-building skills.
HealthTrust Information Technology Group is a division of HCA Information Technology Group (ITG) that is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying innovative products to HealthTrust customers and internal business units. The role will ensure best practices, collaboration, and alignment with standards and practices across other areas of ITG are appropriately leveraged to support HealthTrust. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES (The essential responsibilities and accountabilities of this position including interactions with other departments and outside vendors, if applicable, in PRIORITY order.)
- Determines long-term organization-wide information needs and develops overall strategy for information needs, systems development, information security, and integration which will ensure capacity to meet business demands
- Develops, coordinates, guides and executes IT systems strategic and operational plans, participating proactively with the senior leadership and management teams to optimize the use of information technology in support of the mission and organization business strategy.
- Directs and coordinates information systems planning and functions, including all phases of systems design, development, installation and operations.
- Reviews and evaluates business cases, evaluates alternatives, performs cost benefit analysis, and recommends solutions and project feasibility studies based on management's requirements and priorities.
- Plan and manage information technology strategic partnerships and contract negotiations for enterprise level applications, hardware, software and services
- Leads the development and implementation of corporate ITG initiatives such as “Cloud Ready – Mobile First” to allow for flexible development environments, simplified operations, sustainability, high availability, cost effectiveness, and automation
- Oversee shared services for technical architecture and technological infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, including streamlining internal operational delivery to create competitive customer differentiation
- Responsible for Service Desk and Help Desk services focused on user inquires, access problems, and issues with end-user devices.
- Collaboration with HealthTrust’s Marketing and Product functions to ensure predictable delivery of industry changing solutions
- Monitor advancements in technology to discover ways for organization to gain competitive advantages
- Develops and maintains an appropriate organizational structure and staffing capable of supporting the business and operational needs.
- Ensures environments are stable and efficient and compliant with HCA standards. Ensures all of these environments operate according to negotiated and established service levels and in accordance with enterprise standards and guidelines.
- Fosters utilization of HCA standard solutions and ensures that HealthTrust solutions and initiatives are not in conflict with HCA enterprise solutions, processes, standards and policies.
- Develop annual operating and capital budgets and manage the financial performance including planning, budgeting, capital equipment, contractual and human resource requirements in accordance with HCA and HealthTrust policy and guidance
- Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission Statement.”
- While operating in a matrix environment promote accountability and teamwork through your leadership and strong communications with all teams.
- Collaborate to transform and digitize organizational processes across HealthTrust
- Communicates IT plans, policies and technology trends throughout the organization, including management groups and professional staff.
- Ensures appropriate training and development programs are utilized to attract, retain and develop personnel required to support information services.
IT Operations:
- Ensure all technology is functioning optimally; measured by reportable metrics for all areas of performance and quality.
- Monitor and manages HealthTrust’s infrastructure and evolving the architecture, ensuring that capacity stays ahead of demand
- Broad understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) best practices and processes
- Own and manage the day to day relationship and integration with multiple 3rd party contractor and service providers
- A comprehensive knowledge of the general direction of Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Practices
Data and Analytics:
- Oversee strategy, development and governance of the Business Data Warehouse supporting HealthTrust Supply Chain operations. Responsible for all new analytics development efforts and ongoing maintenance ensuring high quality of data, platforms, and technology.
- Have a broad knowledge of business intelligence and Data analytic tools that are evolving in the industry.
- Support further exploration, application, and development in new technologies such as Block Chain, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Natural Language Processing (NLP), virtual agents, and Machine Learning to drive efficiency in the Supply Chain.
- Drive new technologies and services such as self-service reporting capabilities within the organization including policies, procedures, access levels, support roles, and data access guidelines.
