Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) or Speech Therapist in the NICU setting, you will evaluate swallowing and feeding disorders in the neonatal population and establish appropriate plan of care andrecommendations. You will collaborate with physicians and appropriate clinical staff. You will assess, treat, plan, implement, educate, and communicate to maximize a patients progress toward achieving functional goals and discharge plans.
- You will perform comprehensive patient assessments and establish appropriate treatment goals and programs for patients in Acute care, Inpatient Rehab, and/or Outpatient.
- You will coordinate the treatment program with other clinical/therapeutic services.
- You will develop comprehensive goals for treatment to maximize patient outcomes.
- You will deliver care and modify the care plan in accordance with the patient’s needs.
- You will serve as an educator to patients, families, students and colleagues.
- You will maintain records of services provided.
Job Requirements
Experience
Minimum of 2 years in pediatric and /or acute care hospital experience – required
Minimum of 2 years in dysphagia diagnostic and/or pediatric feeding disorder experience- required
Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS) and/or Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)- preferred
Education
- Master’s level education in Speech-Language Pathology
Licenses and Certifications
- Licensed by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required as per St. David’s Healthcare policy
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) issued by the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or current Clinical Fellowship Plan approved by ASHA – preferred
